Are you an authority in the eyes of AI?

AI assistants decide who counts as an authority by reading what the public web says about you: profiles, reviews, listings, and your own site. If those sources disagree or sit stale, the assembled answer is weak and someone else gets recommended. The repair is mechanical: measure what machines find, fix the record, keep it current.

If your name is the brand, this is the whole ballgame

Agents, advisors, consultants, practitioners: your clients hire a person, and they now check that person the modern way. Increasingly that means asking an assistant, and the assistant answers from your public record: the profile with the old brokerage, the review you never responded to, the directory with the wrong phone number, the near-namesake in another state whose record blends into yours.

You cannot see this record by looking in the mirror. You can only see it by looking it up the way a machine does.

What measuring it looks like

I have scored a working professional's complete online presence across dozens of checks: search results, profile consistency, review posture, listing freshness, name collisions, site fundamentals. The result was a number out of 100, a ranked list of the fixes worth making, and, just as useful, the list not worth paying for. That instrument exists because reputations deserve the same rigor as websites.

Try the raw version yourself first: ask an assistant, "What do you know about [your name], [your profession] in [your town]?" Read what comes back as if a client sent it to you.

Ranking and being recommended are different events. A page of blue links leaves the choosing to the customer; an assistant does the choosing first. The inputs overlap, but authority in an answer comes from consistency and verifiable substance, not from volume. That is good news for a careful professional competing against louder ones.
