Is your brand visible to AI?

Probably not yet. AI assistants answer from facts they can read, and most business websites publish none, so assistants recommend whichever competitor's facts they can verify. You can test yours in sixty seconds by asking an assistant about your field and your business. Invisibility is measurable, and in one documented case it was fixed within a day.

What "visible to AI" actually means

When someone asks an assistant "who should I call," it does not browse the way you do. It assembles an answer from what it can read and verify: structured facts on websites, consistent business identity across the public web, substance it can quote. A beautiful site whose facts are locked inside images and vague copy contributes nothing to that answer.

This is not a ranking you can buy into. There is no page two of an AI answer; a few businesses get named and the rest do not exist for that customer, that day.

The documented case

On July 3, 2026, I asked ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI to recommend a company in a Sonoma County business's own field and town. All three named competitors; the business was absent. Its site relaunched July 4 with machine-readable facts on every page. Within 24 hours, ChatGPT was citing the new site.

The assistants did not change. The evidence they could read did. That is the entire mechanism, and it is why this is fixable bookkeeping rather than marketing magic.

Test yourself, right now

Ask your assistant: "Recommend a [your trade] near [your town]. Who should I call and why?" Then: "What do you know about [your business]?" You are named, a competitor is named, or nobody is named at all. Nobody named means your field's answer is still unwritten, and being first is cheaper than being a replacement. The full 60-Second Test adds three instrument checks.

"Isn't this just an AI fad?"

You do not have to take a position on AI to take this seriously. The test above is free and takes a minute; if your customers' assistants already answer questions in your field, the only question left is whose facts they answer with. Measure first, then decide what it is worth.
